President Biden announced Sunday that he will step aside as the Democratic presidential nominee, a precedent-setting move should it happen. The decision comes after growing calls for him to withdraw, with at least three more House Democrats joining the chorus over the weekend.
There is no legal impediment to Biden stepping aside as the presumptive Democratic nominee. Should this happen before the convention, the decision on who will replace him would fall to delegates, someone who has not run in or won a single primary.
